I love the Mckenna brothers, but I always wish they had a better grasp of Western magickal understanding. Western Magicians understand that something like how to make ayahuasca comes from the Gnosis, the capacity of the spiritually attuned to receive divine understanding. The shamans themselves tend to say that the plants told them how to make these things. That's basically the truth, or the closest thing to the truth an uninitiate is likely to grasp.
