01-17-2012; I'm confident "The Galaxy Being" himself , was a "Scanner". I need to "run" with people like this.-Seclusionos.

I first saw this in 1985, when I was 11. Even back then, this episode terrified me for some reason. I know the alien wasn't hostile, but the special effects were very effective, and his voice was quite eerie.
This one episode made most episode of the Twilight Zone look tame by comparison. Even by todays standards, this episode has aged quite well.

Now THIS is real TV. Today's crap doesn't compare one bit. Old school sci-fi rules.

Brilliant writers,. I watched this pilot episode when it aired at 8PM on a fall, Sunday evening in 1963.

I like at the end where the alien told them all to go to their homes, everyone just nodded their heads and packed it in. "okay honey you know, the alien is right, let's go home and finish off that apple pie"

@micpar2 The actor your referring to is the very excellent Robert Duvall. He starred in both seasons 1 & 2 original Outer Limits. Besides Godfather 1 & 2 he played a Marine Sargent in "Apocalypse Now" famous line; " I love the smell of napalm in the morning;..it smells like victory". He also starred in "Falling down" with Michael Douglas. Robert Duvall, Cliff Robertson and Robert Culp were the cream of the crop that made this series click.
somethings wrong with my computer! oh its the outer limits

One of the best episodes ever. The Galaxy Being is the first episode of The Outer Limits first aired in Sept,1963. It stars future Oscar-winner Cliff Robertson in this amazing episode. I've first seen it in the late '70's and it almost scared the sh*t out of me when i was young. Classic episode worth seeing over again.
