Mourning in America and Dreaming in Color now available
iTunes: http://bit.ly/alimiait

Produced by Jake One.

This is the title track to my new album, Mourning in America and Dreaming in Color. The first half of the album highlights and critiques the dire situation in which we live. The second half outlines the tremendous opportunity we have to re-imagine and reform our society. This song is an observation and a critique of our culture of death and murder. From actual war zones around the world to our own inner cities where this summer's death rates rival war zones. I also address our national hypocrisy regarding violence. We have a zero tolerance policy of violence committed against us, but we're a lot more lenient and patient when it comes to the violence we commit. "A life is a life and a killer is a killer". -Brother Ali

From what i gathered from his songs he was ostracized by white people for being albino and the only kids who accepted him when he was a kid were black. So when one culture abandoned him he joined the only culture that accepted him. I don't think he considers himself black or white though, or anybody black or white for that matter. He see's everybody as individuals with different trials and tribulations that make them who they are.

"I wonder what people said about your boy Jimi Hendrix when he picked up a guitar" That statement is so ignorant! Black people invented Rock and Roll. The first to rock on an electric guitar were the great black blues musicians, and they influenced every rock musician after them.

I wonder what people said about your boy Jimi Hendrix when he picked up a guitar? Wonder what your people said when he put them jackets with tassels on? Wonder what they said when he became a legend, a coco puff in a bowl of cheerios. When it comes down to it man we're all one people some just have more or less melanin than others.
