Domenstration of overhead welding. The overhead welding is nothing special, but in some cases there is not enough space to stand, making it hard to run the pedal with your foot.

So this is how I do it - I use the side of my leg. I'm pulsing the pedal because I like to have manual control of the pulse, which helps me control the surface tension of the melt puddle. This seems to be most important in vertical welding, but I tend to do it no matter what position I'm welding.

It seems really awkward to run the pedal with your leg, but I can't think of many better options. I'm curious how others handle this problem. Maybe with a hand control? Or manually setting the amperage at the control panel and overriding the pedal?

The machine is a Miller Syncrowave 250 with the TIG Runner package, but without the automatic pulse control.

  • have you tried welding aluminum, im thinking about getting this welder Syncrowave 200. Thanks for that vid.

  • @hangoutsumtime Yes, the Syncrowave is very good at aluminum, proved by results from other welders. I've played around win AL, but my results aren't pretty so far.

  • you could use a pulser

  • @jameswswanson True, but my Syncrowave doesn't have that option installed, so I improvise.

  • This method works best when you have to go to the bathroom really bad.

  • @JohnnyWeld LOL!

  • Thats pretty good, I set the amps on the machine and hammer down the peddle

  • dude if you can weld overhead with tig u are the God of welding that shit is hard to do

  • @amaedesign No gas was coming out because the damn collet was backwards! haha my bad. Now its amazing compared to what it was! In regards to your leg, and the pedal, should i set my max amperage on the dial then pulse it just like you are doing? I haven't been pulsing mine i was just running it from like 10% down to all the way down as a tester.

  • I'm not so good at aluminum, but I dropped a few comments on your video.

  • Dude check out my welding videos, you should help me out.. Im stuck. lol
