www.netbooknews.it - The Acer Aspire 531 special edition is one of the new netbooks ultra-thin presented by Acer.

In comparison with the past models, it shows a new design, a new battery and a lower price than the concurrence.

This is the reason why, though the classical hardware endowment, it succeed in taking its place in a more and more competitive business.

The Acer Aspire One 531, although it is a 10 inch PC, weighs just 1,280 Kg.

It has the Intel Atom N270 processor, 1 Gb RAM, 160 Gb hard disk, wireless PG card and a 6 cells battery; the lot with a narrow weight and dimensions like 25 X 18 X 2,5 cm.

On the right side we find two usb ports, microphone and earphones output, the Ethernet port and current collector.

On the left side, instead, we find two multi-size card readers, the usb port and the VGA output to connect the external monitor.

The screen is the glossy type and it can have a 1024 X 600 pixel resolution.

On the top of the display we can see the o,3 Megapixel webcam; below, instead, the inside microphone.

The webcam, though not so excellent in the matter of resolution, keeps a good brightness even in critical light conditions.

The keyboard is sturdy and not much yielding, easy to use even in writing fast; to point out, the enter and right shift keys, on account of the big dimensions.

Below the keyboard, there are the Bluetooth on/off switch and the wireless card.

The touchpad supports the multi-touch function and it has only one button; the sensitivity is good and the surface is soft, almost velvety.

At the bottom, two doors allow to access the RAM, as a maximum 2 Gb, and the wi-fi card, but not to access the hard disk.

Acer set as many as six protective studs on the basis of the netbook: four on the case, and two on the battery, so that you can use the Aspire One without stability problems even removing it.

On the inside of the battery compartment, take its place a sim cards slot, though this model hasnt the integrated 3G modem.

The noise and the heating are normal, with the latest concentrated on the bottom, slightly on the left, of the netbook.

The hardware endowment is classical, this netbook doesnt shows particular news in comparison with the past models.

Like all the products of this range, it offers the possibility to correctly display high-resolution file video, up to 720G, and allows a little of multimedia, as well as, obviously, the opportunity to browse the web, write documents, or take part in a videoconference on Skype.

Windows XP pre-installed results to be responsive and works without troubles, especially because of the hard disk that shows good writing and reading speed.

Acer Aspire One 531 has got everything it needs to not disfigure facing the contenders: the excellent screen, the elegant design, the comfortable and operational keyboard and touchpad, and the battery life about 7 hours, thanks to the 6cells battery.

Its a pity that, to keep these specifics and to sell it with a lower price than the competitors, Acer economized on the finishes, in our opinion a little scraggy, and on the equipment accessories, seeing that lack a case to protect the netbook and a soft cloth to clean its glossy screen.
