More than 1,000 Iraqi-Americans -- mostly Christian with some Shia Muslims --rallied in Southfield, Michigan, on Saturday, June 30, 2007, on the lawn outside City Hall. They protested the mistreatment of Iraq's minority communities, which include Chaldeans, Assyrians, Syriacs, and Mandeans, among others. Since the start of the U.S.-led invasion, tens of thousands of Christians have fled Iraq, fearing for their safety and future. The rally include Chaldeans, Assyrians, and Shia Muslims. Speakers included religious, business, and community leaders representing various groups. This was filmed and photographed by ArabAmericans during the rally. The Chaldean community of metro Detroit is the biggest in the United States. Metro Detroit has several Chaldean churches, as well as Iraqi-American Shia centers.

  • @TheGodsowncountry no there weren't...thanx for freedom usa

  • Thank you. :)

  • And Hayas foreever, for your comments below, there are good and bad in every race and culture and what you are saying is unfair. Someone will say the same of your Armenian Heritage; how would you feel?? They all own jewelry stores and filter all of their illicit money thru their jewelry store fronts. You are very naive and seem full of hate for your statements

  • FOR THE COMMENTS BELOW;STOP THE HATE. We are all immigrants here in America unless you are of Indigenous American Indian decent. The same Indiginous American Indians would be the Iraqi Catholic Chaldean equivolent as the Chaldeans are the true Indiginous People of Iraq.

  • @Hayaserforeveer Good Stereotype. IDIOT. I beg to differ.

  • God Bless all iraqis,no matter if they are christian, muslim, and jews.

I hope we can all unite and rebuild our country and live toghther side by side like before.Iraq used to be a great country where christians, jews, and muslims as well as other religions worshipped freely.

Its sad to see how iraq is been and seeing iraqi people being so divided to the point that some want to divde our country (kurds)and having people being ashamed of identifying themselves as iraqis.

  • God bless the good Iraqi people from all religions. my father's side are Iraqi jews and lived there during King Faisal rule... Iraq used to be heaven on earth once and a beautiful place on earth!

  • i hope that we could be united for iraq muslim and christan and hope that the destroyed churches and mosques will be rebuild as soon as posibble they are part of our great history

  • Chaldeans too!

  • Before the war there were no persecution of Christians in iraq
