  • i had a lesson with james gourlay. one of fletcher's students the other week and he spoke so highly of him as a player and now i see why. what a fantastic player. i can only imagine how well he played in ensemble settings

  • @71196jmg check out the recordings of Star Wars he did with the LSO and Philip jones brass ensemble. Go to the foundation website and you can order two of his cd´s!!

  • how he died?

  • look down >>>

  • The mouthpiece he is playing on is a Dennis Wick (Often used by Eb tubas) at that time it was recorded :)

  • @sokki88 Looks like more as a old Conn remmington mouthpiece?!

  • how has no one commented on that hilarious sound at the end?! that sound has given meaning to my life; heaven is sitting in a room and listening to that sound non stop for eternity

  • I am a huge fan of Øystein- I have toured with him in Europe for 3 months, been to loads of his workshops/masterclasses/concerts, and he is my biggest hero and inspiration,

HOWEVER- I prefer Fletch's Czardas here... his triple tonguing is so much clearer defined that Øystein's.. it is just so British in sound quality, and I love it..

Fletcher wasn't 'one of the best', he WAS the best Tubist in England, probs the world in his time!

  • @kampori I agree with you, Fletcher was amazing and a sort of pioneer on tuba as well. Have a listen to his version of the Vaughan Williams Tuba Concerto; so far I prefer it to any I have heard but I don't think the whole thing is on YOUTUBE yet.

  • wat oil does he use. he triple tongues faster than i trill

  • Sooo........Shiny...ahhh!!!!

  • who else thinks he looks like abraham lincoln???

  • thumbs up to his moustache :D and of course his godliness

  • how die

  • I like Oystein's performance of Czardas, but all in all John Fletcher is still a god.
