Hands Off Venezuela tours Sanitarios Maracay, a factory in Venezuela under workers control, to learn more about the revolutionary process taking place there, and to offer solidarity to the workers. www.handsoffvenezuela.org
To any of the people that has been commenting in this video, I AM A VENEZUELAN and stop saying this things about chavez and about my country getting better every day, YOU STUPID ARSEHOLES IT IS VERY SAD TO SEE MY COUNTRY GETTING WORSE AND WORSE
But these shortages are also due to the rising food prices around the world, the UN has called it a catastrophe, they are by far not limited to Venezuela, violent riots in Mexico(which imports 60% of its food), Nicaragua, Honduras, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Chile, in Haiti they overthrew the PM because of these food shortages.Corn prices rose 149% and wheat 257% since 2006 according to the Toronto Star, and lets not forget the farmers strike in Argentina.
Venezuela's growth rate is was 8.4 in 2007 according to the CIA World Factbook, but you argue industry has dropped? Like I told you private investment and foreign investment has dropped hugely but worker controlled factories (like the ones in this video) and the government sector have grown to fill that gap.
The shortages are partly artificial by corporations hoarding and illegaly selling in the black market, tens of thousands of food products have been seixed from hoarding sellers.
For growth numbers (GDP and wages) the World Bank tracks them, for the murder rate, Amnesty International cooberates the Venezuelan government numbers (crime has NOT skyrockted, though I admitted to you that progress has been slow and that is one of the few areas you have legitimate greivance)
17 out of 27 countries in Europe have unlimited executive terms, President Sarkozy can unilateraly disband Parliament, order indefinite marshall law. When will your plea for French democracy begin?
You are basing this all of your statements on false information. I don't know where you get your facts. Crime in caracas has skyrocketed. Period. The economy is doing well because oil prices are soaring. Venezuela isn't moving towards a dictatorship? What? Chavez is trying to stay in power for decades! Free until proven guilty is NO longer a guarantee. Industry is NOT increasing in Venezuela, they are all leaving. Supermarkets now have LINES for getting milk and other basic food products.
There is plenty of industry, Venezuela's average growth rate is 7%, Real wages (taken after inflation) for the bottom 60% have risen 120%, and 40% in general. GDP figures tell us that industry is not lost but dramatically increasing, private investment is down hugely but public and government sector have massive increases every quarter.
I dont see bandages, I see tools for people to take control.
We can debate socialism but the economics of the Bolivarian Revolution are sound.
Crime is a major problem in Venezuela, and it has been for over 2 decades, it has been steadily decresing, for example the murder rate is down 18.2% since 2003, the prison system is being entirely overhauled to be humanistic but that is one legitimate problem in Caracas, take it up with the opposition mayor there
@dbarca10 you are probably one of the rich people losing power you asshole...LONG LIVE SOCIALISM!!!
