Believe it or not, civil defense in the 1950's was less irrational than it seems now. The only way to deliver atom bombs back then was the bomber, and the Soviets had prop-driven "Bear" bombers, which would take many hours to get to the USA and most were quite likely to be shot down beforehand. So it was possible that few enough bombs would hit the USA to make Civil Defense realistic. The era of hundreds of < 1 hour ICBMs, which made civil defense pointless, did not begin until the mid 1960s.

how about bend over and kiss your a** goodbye!

Sad that there was people that lived near test sites and had to deal with the damage and testing for the bombs. However, lighter note of sarcastic dry nerd humor lol the civial worker is future Enclave soldiers, and the narrator is President Eden's grandfather! Hurry to the Vaults! lol

i´d like to know if they made jokes about this thing in their time, f.e. use flashlights of their camera to frighten ppl and look if they would duck and cover in time, LOL

if you are lucky you die when the shockwave hits you. You woun't know what happens with you when the radiation strikes you.
Remember, kids. If you see a monkey swinging around with dynamite tied to a branch, he's a suicide bombing terrorist!

this was made so that ppl would think that they could survive a nuclear attack. It was made so that ppl wouldn't be afraid.
