Could I play this with intel i5 480m, 8gbddr3, and external amd hd 6850?

I have a Q6600 @ 2.9GHz, would it be worthwhile upgrading from a 9600GT to a 6850? As it is, I struggle to play BF3. I run it at a pretty low resolution (my native res is 1680x1050) and low/medium settings to get an FPS of ~15-35, depending on what's happening obviously.

no it doesnt.
430w enough for 4 core cpu and hd 6850? dude, you should upgrade your psu.

@Rakinroww It's obviously running fine... :P
Corsair is a high quality PSU brand, no need to worry.

i have a radeon 6850 with i7 quad core and when i do auto it sets my graphics to high, and i get 40 fps but i get a lot of choppiness is there anything i can do? (i updated drivers and closed backround programs and it dint work)

@dddeseve Hm, I don't know why you would be getting choppiness even though you have good specs and 40 fps...
Are you sure you're on the latest drivers? (Ati 11.10)
