This is a Lauson RSH-899. The RSH is another popular engine series of the Lauson products. The RSH series was built from the late 1940s or early 1950s through into the 1960s. It is another of the Lauson designs that Tecumseh continued to produce into the 1960s after discontinuing most Lauson models in 1958. The RSH series succeeds the RSC series. All engines In the RSH series were cast iron and were rated at 2 HP.

  • That is the same motor I have on my ROTO HOE.

Looks like you have some time on that one to make it look so good. Nice job.

  • Thanks. Yup, I believe I read somewhere that the RSH-899 was built for ROTO-HOE.

  • My grandfather gave me the RSH -899 off his broken Roto-Hoe. I put it on my mini-bike. It had a 5/8 shaft and ball bearing on the crankcase. I remember cleaning the varnish out of the float bowl, and worrying if the two-bolt mounting would be strong enough. Also, I believe one of the base holes was 1/4" and the other 5/16". It was a great motor, it turned out. I thought the spring-loaded oil slinger was cool, too.

  • do you have any idea what they are worth? I have the ROTO HOE and the attachment Edger with it. Runs and works great. Or any ideas where I can find out?
