@bcl1953 Nonsense!
There is nothing like remaking the past. What's particularly
great about it is you don't have to worry about the problems of
the present.
The blame game is destructive because it allows people a
back door, an escape route from facing the responsibility
and challenges within all of us.

@TaureDawn Well, there is a very sexist song, or it's just plain stupidity. This started well, then became illogical Nice voice, though.

@bcl1953 Hi, I am a man. Don't think the song sexist. She started out well . Then, it becomes completely illogical, because she is so glad with her man. Who is the man under who's thumb she is, who lies to her, treats her like dirt? The feminist anger about this song? You just cannot take a social problem, then apply it to all female/male relations. Things don't work that way. Probably in 1966 you could attack males, but had to make clear your man was OK. Good things have changed,.

Sorry for the double post but also check out the Rolling Stone's song "Under My Thumb".
Women's liberation was going on strongly during the 60's. Some songs are written to get you to stop and think about things.

Well some men still want it this way -- I've talked to quite a few of them (all over 40 years old). They want to dictate to a woman and keep her "Under the Thumb".
I think the song writer was trying to make a strong point.: The song is a sarcastic look at the way a women are treated... This is written to make you stop and think about things.
Lord I had forgotten all about this song! I'm not a male basher by nature but this song is soooo sexist. She has a beautiful voice but that was the mentality back then. So glad it's not like that now.
