i been using srm450 for about 4 year never had a problem. now i bought a pair of hd1521 and a pair of hd1801. both hd1521 fail in two separate gig. thermal light came on, was not even pushing them. like someone said here they sound very good at low or mid vol.
I'm not saying this to start a war of words with you. However, one thing is that QSC & JBL speakers are voiced to sound good in the store at lower volumes so that they can make that sale. The Mackies are voiced by EAW to destroy brains & small buildings at real world levels.
What you just described wasn't a real-world test. How often will you be playing those QSCs in stores while trying to not annoy people? Never. They are great speakers for that purpose apparently.
@genxtargetmarket I tested the hd 1531s. I had them turned up as loud as I could without annoying everyone in Guitar Center. I did the same with the QSCs and they were drastically better. I went ahead and purchased the QSCs because they were cheaper also. I have been using them now for 2 months and love them. I will never go back to passive or Mackie.
@djthomasphan i will like to know how much you got charge to get them fix. what did the shop told you was the problem. thanks

Just wanted to gently point out that the 1800 Watts each you mentioned is PEAK. Standard RMS is only half that.

Do you still have or own the Mackie HD???
I have a pair. And now it's in the repair shop due to blown woofer or bad amp.
I was there when the service guy open it up and it looks like they use cheap components.
They do look nice and sound really good at low and mid volume, but at higher volume they could not perform long period of time.
My friend have a pair of Mackie HD1531 and his is in for service as well.
NO MORE MACKIE for me!
