Because its a good traditonal name that won't make school a living nightmare for him and in this day and age it could have been worse considering he could've been named after an object like apple or something. He got off easy considering she's 15 he could've gotten a horrible name.

John is still a very popular name, and its handsome, unlike something more "modern" like Jaydyn which is ugly and makes her look like she's illiterate
