Yeah, I downloaded this song, saved it to 3 hard drives, puted them in a box and buried them 50 feet underground.

@bannanatree "so I'm grateful for this consciousness oasis that paints the darkest carpet with a sudden streak of white. We burn so bright!" So he's glad he's alive. He may have problems - the dark carpet - but the fact that he's alive is a "streak of white." "Don't look back: you'll turn to salt" just means don't look back at the past, nothing good will come of it. Instead, just "let moments melt." The rest of the lyrics are basically celebrations of life.

@bannanatree The song's about appreciating life while you have it. First the example of a ghost who misses his life, then focusing on his own life, which has its troubles at the moment - but at least he's alive, and he's never going to take that for granted. "Daylight will wash away. It's going to fade, yeah it will fade, and the darkness will take it's place. It's going to come, yeah it will come." Daylight = life and darkness = death. He knows he's going to die.

@bannanatree Don't get too caught up on the literal; it seems to me that this song is not necessarily a story, but a message. He's saying, nothing lasts--everything fades, we all die. But too many take life for granted before it's gone (like the ghost), so he says: Be grateful for this life. Take every opportunity to enjoy it fully. Don't get hung up on the past ("look back"), and become aware of the life you're living ("wake up") so you don't miss out on it. That's what I get out of it, anyway.
