I'm going to post a memorial video soon. It might take a little bit, but it won't take MONTHS.

This is a terrible day in music.

  • R I P Walter Hawkins. I gave my heart to the Lord in 1978 at the age of 12, got into the choir, we sang Be grateful. MY early Christian experience involved the music ministry of Walter Hawkins. We would listen to the Vinal Albums at home, Not CDs yet, but The actual Vinal Albums.

  • You have no idea how this man and his family have changed my life. I can remember at the age of 8 years old hearing him and the Hawkins family on my grandfather's TV singing...It was the Legends of Gospel VHS way back when and evey since I have been blessed. My family always said we were related because we had the same last name!!! LOL HAWKINS will 4ever be remembered!!! May God keep Jamie and Sunny, Trysten and her daughter as well as little Jamie!!! AMEN!!! He is seated @ the right hand of GOD

  • I cut my musical teeth on the music of Walter Hawkin. He & Edwin are the biggest influences (then comes Thomas Whitfield & Richard mallwood) on my playing style. I was listening to "There's a War Going On" when Igot the news of his passing...and cried like I had just lost a close family member...in a sense, I did. From the happy times to the moments of deepest despair, there has always been a Walter Hawkins to accompany me along my journey in life. Thank God for the legacy of Walter Hawkins!

  • When I found out that Bishop Walter Hawkins went home to be with the Lord. I went back to a time in my mind about how my Mom and Dad played Walter Hawkins Love Alive 2 when I was recovering from a disaster in my life. Had it not been for the songs on that tape ministering to me I would have lost my mind and my life. GOD BLESS YOU BISHOP HAWKINS R.I.P. NOW YOU CAN SIT DOWN AND REST IN THE ARMS OF JESUS CHRIST!

  • A COMPLETE LOSS TO THE GOSPEL MUSIC INDUSTRY IT WILL 'NEVER' BE THE SAME!!!! RIP WALTER HAWKINS....it is the eve before the musical celebration and i am so grieved! I wish i could've been there.

  • I grew up in the Bay Area.I am also sadden by this news, however his music will play forever in my spirit. I too was,and will always be a fan of Walter Hawkins.

  • So sad...one of my all time favorites has gone up yonder. Had the privilege of meeting him when I was 21 (29 years ago). Sorely missed but his ministry continues through his music and legacy.

  • God Bless the entire Hawkins family in the loss of Walter. He will be greatly missed. May his memory linger on through his awesome music the Lord put in him to produce and share with us. RIP Walter.
