Law Enforcement's War on Family Pets

Family pets are being gunned down not only regularly but needlessly and it is time that the nation as a whole is aware of this epidemic. Not only are pets being shot, the families are then often faced with harassment and intimidation by the same people and departments. Many have had to install security devices on/in their homes in fear of retaliation. In almost all cases, the actions of the shooter(s) are justified by an "internal investigation'. Pets are being murdered while the children and other family members are present and it is only by an act of faith that none have been killed as well. Accountability and training are long overdue as well as a national story on this disgrace in the United States.

My dog, Army, a beautiful loving American pit bull was unjustly gunned down in her front yard 2 days ago. Please someone advise me on what to do to make this officer pay for his actions???

Please document your stories with news reports on the incident. Writers can't write about these incidents without an independent report from a news outlet, local paper, etc. and the cases of shooting non-aggressive dogs must be reported and heard by State officials for change to be made.

This HITS HOME OMG. I lost my dog in June and I can't help it....I loved him so much, I'm still hurting, my heart broke. He was my buddy, my boy and it was needless, they KNEW we had a dog and PURPOSELY came in when we weren't home and shot him then lied to the news about first using nonlethal means. I know they didn't because I was right behind them, running to save my dog and heard the shots that killed him right after they entered. If they were right why lie? Something needs to be done

and another officer the other day has now been charged with a felony of animal abuse for shooting a pet.. they have to learn that the gun does not give them open hunting when they choose.. they are suppose to be the ones trained in how to handle situations and are not using their brains.. time to stop it!!! I appreciate that something is being done...

I am currently trying to get a Texas Legislator to sponsor a Bill to mandate that all Texas peace officers receive animal encounter/behavior training that is modeled after the Fort Worth program implemented in response to Lily being killed. So sad. I would love to get state or more importantly federal laws passed that protect our family animals and not just look at them as property. I am so sad and something needs to change

They are becoming no better than the people they are suppose to protect us from. I keep saying is this not the sign of killers that we are to watch for.
