Here's a quick clip from a Kettlebell Sport Technique Clinic given by Tom Corrigan and Mikhail Marshak. It was taken the day after the IKFF Nationals in Detroit in 2010. One common mistake people make when dropping the KB from overhead is to let it fall in front of the shoulder, then having to pull it to the middle to go between your legs on the back-swing. This drill is designed to let you practice dropping the bell closer to your mid-line, using your same side eye or ear as a reference point. You should experiment with how much arm bend and/or leaning back you need to absorb the force of the drop efficiently. It is best to start with a lighter KB when you are practicing this drill. Thanks to Ken Blackburn of the IKFF for helping to put together this workshop.
