Sunday June 15th, 2009.

Los Angeles Lakers fans celebrate in the streets of Downtown LA. Figueroa & Flower.

On a personal note I thought it interesting that as I heard the revelry through my loft window this evening I was at the same time researching the 911 Truth Movement (My search had led me here: http://davidraygriffin.com/calendar/april-11-2009-boston/).

Let us not forget that while professional athletics are incredibly entertaining and have the ability to UNITE a city, a people, even a country, certain American government and other world leaders are perfectly happy to let the games continue to be one of the many distracting factors in their consistent war for our minds.

As I considered this emphatic crowd chanting up and down my neighborhood, I was reminded of the Film Gladiator and in turn the true history of the Gladitorial games that were in place to numb the masses and sway the political opinion of Rome. Are we much different today as our American Empire has reached foreign lands?

Though i do not watch my television, I was compelled to see what the live news might be covering of the evenings events. Indeed, local news station, KTLA, was covering the exact crowd I had just returend from filming. The news finished and I left the TV going as I edited this footage. After several episodes of Ashton Kutcher's silly, yet scintilating "Punked" - and then I heard a familiar tune and a more familiar scene followed. KTLA had elected to show "Gladiator" as the Sunday Night movie directly following it's Cities powerful and commanding victory over it's venerable foe.

At this moment I type, Commodus is choking his father, The King of Rome thus passing the torch of Caesar to himself, stealing the throne.

Remember my fellow citizens, even Rome fell.
