This is part 64 of my series on John's home demos. To understand the abbreviations I use in the description, please refer to the original video in the series:

Gone From This Place, take 2 (Fall 1980, TD) -- This was written after John's trip to Bermuda and it was briefly toyed with during the Double Fantasy sessions. It can be assumed that this take was made in late August or early September 1980.

Dear John, unknown take (November 1980, TD) -- Although this is from early November 1980, it is not John's last home recording. It's kind of bonechilling to hear these recordings with such lyrics as, "Gone from this place" and "The race is over".

Gone From This Place as haunting as it is to listen to now following what happened would have no doubt been a huge hit. I love this song!
