Read "Test #01" description for why I'm doing this.

First used Virtual Dub to deinterlace it into a raw file (720x480 still)... then used Movie Maker to encode it to "Windows Media HD 720x (6.9Mbps)" to see what will happen.

Test #02 HD looks pretty good but the interlacing kind of cause some blur and stuff I think.

{Test #01}
Xvid Max Bitrate, Deinterlaced, 720x480

{Test #02}
WMV 5.9Mbps Bitrate, Interlaced, 720x480 to 1280x720

{Test #03}
WMV 6.9Mbps Bitrate, DeInterlaced, 720x480 to 1280x720

  • HD is now working!

    Tell me what you think compared to the Test #2 "interlace" version!

  • Try the X.264 codec. It gives off really high quality with decent filesizes. Like you're doing now, using X.264 in Virtual Dub to do a two-pass encoding of your video then bring it over to Movie Maker to render it. That should turn out good.

  • I don't have that codec, where would I get it?

  • Personally, I getter better results by de-interlacing to full FPS (59.97) using this filter called Bob Doubler on Adaptive ELA. It takes a few frames to work but it works very well. Then you decimate the frames by 2 to get back to 29.97.

    I take out the borders using null transform because my capture card put this bad vertical line on the output. If they don't exist on the video then it's so much better.

    There is also the formatting tags. You should use those if the Aspect Ratio is wrong.

  • Amazing quality. I hope to do this some day.

  • Yes, Vegas is better for sure but he says he uses Movie Maker. If you have good knowledge of Virtual Dub, you can get ultimate results with just that. I know some who have and I have gotten decent results with it before.

  • Yup .. and better if you choose ( CQP ) with 26 Quantizer ..

    As u say ... after this add this video in any movie maker programs ( Sony Vegas 8 better ) and render it in a same Codec ( x264 ) ..

    now u see : high Qulaity + small size ^.^

    isn't that Awesome xD

  • Bayonetta

  • what game is this?

  • Looks Even more epic

  • I think this one is slightly more clear then the others. It seems to offer a better rate when its moving lots too :).

  • X.264 is probably THE best codec. Hang on, I'll look for it and send you a link in a PM since I can't put links in a comment.
