This ought to be called Simon Schama's Power "Over" Art, his sheer genius as storyteller .

Did Simon really look like John Lennon in the 70's?

Simon Schama is remarkably eloquent and expressive. And this series makes fantastic use of music. But when I look at the works independently I think they're a bit rubbish. From when I was first introduced to them in high-shool 10 years ago to today I've always despised the concept. It's just a bunch off pretentious people standing around any old rubbish, nodding and convincing themselves that they "get it" so they fell cultured. While in fact they'd probably "get" any work with the right label.
