Kurt Moll (Osmin) & Lillian Watson (Blondchen). Covent Garden, 1990. Solti.

They make it seem so easy...

I bought this recording on VHS about 6 years ago & wore out the tape! The DVD was released fairly recently. I definitely recommend the purchase; get it at the url below:

  • Is this the same performance of which you've uploaded Osmins other aria?

  • Yeah it is... Check out the url in the description to buy it. Definitely recommended.

  • Would you be so kind to upload Osmin's first aria (Solche hergelaufne Laffen)?

I'll by this DVD soon, but I don't want to wait ;)

  • Uploading right now; give it about 30 minutes to render...

  • simply wonderfull!!!

I prefer Kurt Moll as Osmin above all other interprets. His performance of "O wie will ich triumphieren" is sublime.

  • I saw him live back in '94 at La Scala in this role. He was better live than I'd ever heard him recorded. He outshone all the other cast members. It was odd, because outside in the piazza there was a big screen TV showing the World Cup in the USA, & there were thousands of people watching. Occasionally you could hear the cheering from INSIDE the opera house.

My happiest moment was going backstage & meeting Moll afterwards; I finally got to meet my hero.. I ended up singing Osmin 8 years later.

  • He's just outstanding... Pitty, he's in such hurry though... :)

  • best Kurt Moll!!!...number 1º bass from 20th century

  • you know... its... KURT MOLL... correct? hes.. you know, kinda big.

  • seriously, how could this sound like anything but a basso profundo?

  • Pretty good? He's the greatest Osmin of all time! If you consider the man has a huge Wagner voice, but always kept his technique in control so he could sing the most refined material of Mozart, and sing it SUPERBLY, then you can see that he was simply amazing. The two of them are perfect together....she's so tiny and he's so big! :-)

  • Can you get the second number? The duet with Osmin and Belmonte.
