Iraq un-winnable war

THESE ARE ugly times for the U.S. military in Iraq. It seems everywhere you turn, more and more troops are being killed and maimed in vicious encounters with determined rebel fighters.
The insurgency is mounting incredibly in such places as Baghdad, Mosul and Baquba, using more advanced techniques and weaponry associated with a well-organized guerilla campaign. Even in the massively destroyed city of Falluja, rebel forces are starting to reappear with a callous determination to win or die trying. Many critics and political pundits are starting to realize that this war is, in many aspects, un-winnable.

And why should anyone think that a complete victory is possible? Conventionally, our U.S. forces win territory here or there, killing a plethora of civilians as well as insurgents with each new boundary conquered. However, such as the recent case in Falluja, the rebel fighters have returned like a swarm of angry hornets, attacking with a vicious frenzy. (more)

@aow4321 The Taliban and Mujahideen were equipped by the Americans with Soviet weaponry by using contacts in Israel, Egypt and Pakistan in order to fool the Soviet forces in Afghanistan.

@aow4321 Yeah, his conventional weapons are almost all soviet, but that's not uncommon. In fact, I have an ak myself. If not for ronald regan's gun control bill in 1986, I'd even be able to afford it in class 3, but I digress. What we sold him were the chemical weapons components. Specifically the US, Germany, and Singapore. France built his nuclear reactor. We did this so he could go to war with Iran. However, I'm sure people in the Middle East resent this kind of meddling.

@FieldMarshalB Idk pretty much all the guys we fought were using AKs, and I cant say about the chemical weapons because I dont know, but what I do know is the US does not manufacture SCUDs, and AKs for that matter. Also the few planes in their Air Force consisted of Russian Mig-29s, Mig-21s, Su-25s and so on.

@aow4321 Perhaps, but I think that the more important thing to remember is that when he was doing all that wicked stuff, he was our guy, a CIA asset. We supported him, we gave him money, we gave him weapons, including his biological and chemical weapons that he used. That's what most Americans don't know. That's why we are confused when the Muslim world hates us, and we say "why do you hate us, we got rid of this scum bag" Then they say "yes you did, several decades after you created him."

@aow4321 I really doubt Iraq will become anything resembling a prosperous western country. In fact, I wish I could go to Vegas and bet on it. It is not transitioning to peace. During the "surge" violence declined because we started bribing militia leaders, paying protection money so they wouldn't attack, essentially, negotiating with terrorists. Eventually we will run out of money, or the dollar will become a greatly devalued currency. Hide and watch.

@kanuck2112 Well, the war on terror has destroyed much of the little that remained of freedom and rights for the individual US citizen. See, the thinking is that now that we are no longer free, the terrorists will no longer "hate us for our freedom" You didn't realize that did you? Well, that's the subtle genius of George W. Bush. But if you even try to disrespect those who fought to show we won't back down, I will somehow find you and toss you to the bastards in Afghanistan who would gladly kill you for being with the USA.
