I know this topic is really old. lolz. Perhaps there is nothing going on between you guys now. Anyways, I think he is taking the song out of context, and putting it into his context. When the song says "Head over Heels", then I do believe that your BF is relating that simple phrase to his feelings for you.
In other words... he likes you WAY mucho

@MyMoe7 songs like this are why Switchfoot is my aboslute favorite band. There are sooooo many ways to interpret every song. So many ways that they have a song that can get you through are warm you heart in anytime of your life. Soul-crushing breakups to a beautiful summer day. A winter storm to a love song. Switchfoot, and even some of Jon Foreman's solo stuff, has the lyrics and the chords that can make your world seem a little less crazy and a lot more beautiful.

I relate this song to God. But anyone can interpret it anyway they desire. He is the flower and the thorn, the best of love, & war. Now that I look at it, the whole song is sung for God, in praise of Him. Think what you will, but my heart is open to his praise.

@jordanb301 I would imagine that that's the way the song was supposed be, and even though it is open for interpretation, I prefer that it the way you've stated it.

My Boy Friend sent me this song and said it reminds me of you i am confused do yall think this is an apporpriate song for a girlfriend.? i mean i sent him 1234 by plain white tees.???HELP!

@MyMoe7 I would say it is, if you pay attention, for example, a line in the song is "Your everything that's fair in love, and more" I think that's the line.
