@Silverhedgehog1000 If it werent for zoos, many animal species would be extinct now. But I think many zoos (certainly not Singapore Zoo) should make better enclosures for their animals. The Orang-Utans in Barcelona zoo, for example, inhabit a miserable glass cage, when they should have a large outdoor enclosure, like in Singapore and Auckland zoo, or at least semi-outdoor enclosure, like in Berlin Zoo.

When I went there last year, they weren't on exhibit. That's because they are remodeling the exhibit to be 3 and a half times larger! Great project, I say!

@ariegserr and WaltDisney - The water in Singapore zoo is not chilled and the enclosure is not air-conditioned except a small den that is enough for only one of them - usually Inuka takes it, I am frm Singapore. There is an ongoing campaign for these polar bears actually. I am not sprouting nonsense (yes please stop judging) - you can check out a scientific report published. am unable to paste the link - but google the same pls. Glass feels cold because of its higher specific heat capacity.

@maams23 They are not suffering, the water is cold and their enclosure, though a little small, has sub zero temperature. Please don't sprout nonsense if you don't know. Are you from Singapore anyway? If you touch the glass wall you can feel that the water is cold. Same goes to the penguins and other animals requiring sub zero temperatures.

@maams23 ITS cold and the water is colder ...

Poor polar bears suffering in the tropics - the enclosure is not airconditioned and the water is not even chilled - inspite of so much revenue generated by the zoo! It is so sad that visitors do not question such conditions.
