Join Ancestry's own barefoot genealogist, Crista Cowan, as she shows you the answer to this week's question: I believe my ancestor was Native American/Indian. How do I prove that?

About the Barefoot Genealogist: Crista Cowan has been with Ancestry.com since 2004; her interest in family history, however, reaches all the way back to childhood. Send Crista questions for future events at ask@ancestry.com.

  • can you do something about the tigua tribe? from ysleta..

  • Am I related to Crista Cowan? My mother's maiden name is Cowan.

  • @martha71s05knowles I am deaf too. I understand your frustration.

  • I've been told that there is Native American ancestry in our family, but it would have to be several generations back. Will the Ancestry.com ethnic DNA test show this ethnicity, no matter how far back it goes?

  • Just wish this was captioned - I'm deaf!!!
