I'm a farmer and the reason my produce is more expensive than what is grown in China or Mexico or wherever is because 1. the cost of land is higher, more taxes, more capital. 2. laws that require us to pay employees a livable wage, which is much higher in Canada than developing countries. I am not greedy. I farm for the love of the land and my family. I strive to produce the most nutritious food at the lowest cost to you and the environment. Thank you and shop local

This affects our health as well because all imported produce is irradiated - valuable enzymes that our digestive system needs are destroyed. Vitamins and minerals that barely exist as it is because they are grown in nutrient deficient soil are depleted. THIS is why many Canadians (and Americans) are as sick as they are.
