In my opinion, this is one of Mariah's best works of art, period! This song is just so haunting. It's an anthem for all of those who have been jilted by a parent (mother or father). It is a shame that more people have not hard this masterpiece. All kids urge to know whether their parent really cared for them.

this song is a reflection of how I feel about my so called "father", I received a msg today for the second time that he has Hep C and it's killing him. Growing up I never knew him like I wanted to. I only knew the bad part of life with him. So I listen to this song and feel the raw emotions because I don't know how else to feel except for empty. Looks like it's going to be a sad song playing kind of day with a few of my own originals playing in my head. "When you have nothing you have God"
