  • What is the most important thing to know as a surgical tech?

  • From the Southeast Tech Surgical Technology instructor: Always puts the patient first in every aspect of the surgical procedure. Follow this closely with knowledge of the instrumentation used during the procedure and knowing the sequence/steps of the procedure.

  • I am thinking of getting into this field, i just dont know if i have the stomach for it, especially the smells. How do you know if you can do it?

  • Best thing to do is to contact your local hospital, tell them you have an interest in becoming a Surgical Tech, and then ask if you could "shadow" a Surgical Tech for part of the day. You really need to view an actual surgery to know if you have the stomach for it.

  • You shouldn't let crabby surgeons and nurses discourage you, its like any other job, somebody treats you badly and you stand up for yourself. Some good things to consider: the pay is competitive, you see different things everyday, there are advancement opportunity's, and you have excellent job security.

  • you mean they flip out on the surg tech????

when somethings my fault....i could take some

heavy heat....but when stuff isn't my fault and someone yells at me....HULK SMASH.

what if a surg tech yells something like....hey!!

stop yelling at us fuck face!! do we then get fired?

    dont worry about it

  • I want to get into this, but i'm kinda nervous about the blood and the smells... the thing is, i hear there are a lot of first timers that vomit or get dizzy their first few times. I'm just wondering if there's anybody out there that went into this field not sure if they could handle the blood/smell or even if they did vomit/dizzy/faint and just got used to it after a a while?? Please Reply.

  • So is this primarily a female job? There was only 1 guy in this whole video

  • I'm doing this program right now. And you will know if you like it or not, if you can handle blood and guts then go for it.

  • I would like to pursue this career after high school. I heard you get treated badly though. I guess I wouldn't be the only one.
