I made this game in 2007, but I only now have an actual camera to film it.
Get it here: http://forums.parallax.com/forums/def...

This is a puzzle game, basically a vertical Sokoban. It is designed for the Hydra Console (32 bit 8 core console), but there is also a NOSOUND version that runs on the demo board. The game is written in Spin, graphics were done in Gimp, the font used is a bitmap version of "Linux Libertine", levels were created in Tile Studio, music consists of MIDI files converted to HDMF, final ROM was composed with HAM asset manager.
The music you hear in this video is from level 70 and onward. Usually you hear different musics throughout the game, but I preferred having just one music playing through the whole thing. The music is "Benzin" by Rammstein.

  • This reminds me of a Gameboy game I played growing up called Cat Trap. In fact the mechanics appear identical: ?v= PT9-quHCmRQ

Not to imply that is a bad thing! I liked Cat Trap. Just wondering if you were aware of that game.

  • Yes, I, too, played that game about 20 years ago. What I did here is basically a pitman/cattrap clone, that's why pitman/cattrap is in the tags section of the video description (just click on "more info"). I guess you found this video by searching for cattrap, right?

This is the first game I made for the hydra console, so I picked pitman/cattrap because it's very easy to program: there is only one moving thing at a time, it's practically turnbased and the graphics always align to a grid.

  • That is amazing. it is like a cross between Boulder Dash and Sokoban. The quality of your game is amazing, and the ability to control a second character is very interesting.

Thank you for your comment. Make sure to check out the link so you can play it on your own Hydra. :)

Oh, and could you accept this video as a response to your Hydra trailer? That way people would notice my game more, since it isn't in the official trailer. :-/

  • @RedNifre Whoops, my fault for not checking the tags. I actually did not search for Cat Trap (why would I search for Cat Trap?) I was just reminded of it. Anyway, nice job.
