i always sing this song in my secondary school days...
-
especially since praise music tends to use the same chord sets, i'm guessing that this is what ur friend was talking about. basically, that if you know the key, you know what chords generally to use. but if you switched over to jazz music, the chord sets would be different.
hope that helps!

hey dot. i'll chime in on this one :)
it's helpful to know what they key of a song is because each key has a certain set of chords that it TENDS to use. for example, if you're in the key of G, your typical chords are going to be G, C, D, and Em. If in E, your typical chords are E, A, B, and C#m.

nway Dan i hav a question. You say it every instruc. vid. u made before you start. Like what do u mean that you play this song with the "KEY of E" ? may i know what is this KEY of E, Key of etc. ?
Coz my fren that taught me the basic chords of guitar, before he went home "Faraway"..
says "When you know this "Key of etc." you will know how to play guitar without any chords to watch"
Hope you can help me Dan.. -_-
Thx..

erm, i'm not sure how to explain it, but when you play any song, you have to choose what key you want to play the song in. This determines how low/high the song is. For example, if i play the song in the key of D, i could find the song too low, so i can play it in the key of E instead etc
