A quick edit of my first super 8 film, shot over a week in Berlin during the May Day protests.

People protested against Neo Nazis and held marches for better rights in the work place. This film focuses on how the stagnant remains of an old divided Germany (remnants of the Berlin wall and shooting towers) together with bleak imagery of the Jewish Memorial (large coffin shaped concrete blocks), continue to leave an ominous impression beneath the changed city of Berlin to this day.

The film is entitled 'No Spring for Nazis' (in German 'KEIN FRUHLING FUR NAZIS') because these were the striking colourful words written on a small sticker covering every lamp post.

Shot on a Canon 518 Super 8 Zoom film camera, using Kodak 7280 Ektachrome 64T Color Reversal silent film.

Filmed and edited by Mary Marcher.

Music: 'New Stone Age' by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark
