Imagine a roundabout with six little roundabouts at every exit. That's severn roundabouts for the price of one. Has the EU made the roundabout illegal? Will it be sold to Las Vegas? Watch the gentle people of Hemel Hempstead struggle with the idea.

  • This roundabout is absolutely brilliant - Traffic always move, no traffic lights and unless you are a total moron with absolutley no common sense or driving skills, its easy and very fast. Its amazing, when you think about the shire quantity of traffic it takes. If they put a normal one in, or worse- traffic lights, it would grind to a standstill.

Seriously though, I love the choice of interviewee's. very bright

  • haha this makes me piss myself laughing

  • @cosine303 If you put that in America, we'd probably kill ourselves. I would love to go there and drive through that though. It looks fun :)

  • @JohnEdwardBiggs yer, they are very rare.. I heard stories about when they brought them in and too many were crashing.. so they got rid... I live up the road from that round about... you think WTF you get around it.. but it gets easier more you drive around it :)

  • My first time (of many) on this roundabout was in one of my driving lessons - my instructor liked to chuck me in at the deep end, bless him! It works really well.

  • According to a friend from Hemel Hemstead, who happens to be driving teacher, this roundabout is a stroke of genius. In spite of heavy traffic, there`s a constant flow from all directions. I stayed in the building next by, and could see how well it worked.

  • @Wad12br lol you better believe it we do know what roundabouts are in america...there's one right next to my house

  • NO ONESS GONNA BUY OUR FUCKING ROUND ABOUT, THEY CAN FUCK OFF!!!!

  • They don't know what a Fucking roundabout is in America , so hands off our roads Yankee B@#!!$%##.

  • It's actually a circular dual-carriageway with a roundabout at each exit. And very straight-forward to navigate once you get used to it. It was a brilliant solution in the 70s to the problem of six roads meeting. If you think the traffic movement is bad now, you should have seen the rush hour chaos every day before they came up with this solution. Complete gridlock and a hideous journey home trying to get either side of this junction. Planners these days wouldn't get near such a neat solution.

  • Once one is IN this roundabout, it's actually simply to navigate. It just looks scary when approaching it from the motorway/St Albans Road...

I have some relatives who live in Apsley, so I've been through this many times. I think at one time it was just a VERY big rotary...
