Medvedev visits Latin America

Boosting bilateral trade and technical co-operation between Russia and Latin America is the priority for the Russian president. But this tour has an important political and military component. Why has Russia intensified its activity in Latin America? Is Moscow looking for new strategic partners overseas? Well be discussing it with businessman Vladimir Semago, the Vice President of the Russia-Venezuela Business Council, and journalist Anna Arutunyan.

@AmarokSaga "I just hope this doesn't not break our latin america brotherhood in two sides." it has already. but not because of Russia's new interest in Latin america but because of chavez ideologies and the fact that he is supporting terrorist groups. Venezuela has become a safe haven F.A.R.C which is the worst terrorist in the history of Latin America and even though Russia does not support such groups, the russian government have been deeply hurt by his alliace with chavez.

Indeed Russia was just waiting for the right time, when Latin countries started to get fed up with US politics and their affects. Economy and migration resolutions haven't been resolved as promised since decades. I just hope this doesn't not break our latin america brotherhood in two sides.

the U.S is counting with the influence that they have over most of latin america to get some momentary balance that will help them easy the economic time bomb the country is holding and that is about to explote. what most of you ignore is that countries like colombia and brazil are dying to get rid of uncle Sam. i know that the colombian government doesn't support chaves because he allows the guerrilla to enter venezuelan soil and treat them as if they where heroes but things will change soon.

Now...of course this will benefit russia more than it will benefit Venezuela. as Anna said, Latin America is most likely what will help Russia to hold itself during the economic crisis.  All the projects that are being developed between these countries will create jobs and will help substain the country. one thing none says is that this new alliances are going to affect the U.S economy dramatically (yeah, it'll get worse people).
