Pine Bluff, Revisited

My first real stab at doing a music video. The song is "Pine Bluff Blues" by delta bluesman Booker T. "Bukka" White, and played by a British guitarist named Bottleneck Bill (recorded by Jim Clark).

I lived in Pine Bluff in the late '80s, fresh out of college and beginning my adult life in radio. In March '06 my wife and I were driving through PB, my first visit there in about 15 years.

I freely admit not liking Pine Bluff too much (and going by various 'cities rated' publications, I'm not the only one). Even so, it saddens me to see the stations where I began my adult working years silent and rotting.

I do love that song, though.

Because the town, sad to say, is worth disliking. Too many people preferring to keep to themselves and not enough wanting to do something about your city.

Yeah, there are millionaires. And that's part of the problem. Trouble is, there's little to no "middle class" -- PB is a banana republic. Ask yourself: if the town is so good, where are the radio stations??

If only Pine Bluffians spent as much time bettering their city as they do whining whenever someone calls BS on 'em. Cheers. :-)

You'd be doing much better in Hot Springs. Heck, the place is a regular Shangri-La by comparison. 

Then again, Abu Ghraib or Gitmo would look that way if put against Pine Bluff. :-)

Dude why does everyone dislike Pine Bluff? It's rough in some areas like the loop, Howard drive, etc... This video is propaganda they didn't go to where i live like Windsor colony or 49th or by the hospital nobody can help if you grew up in the slums of PB their are millionaires here too

A lot of ppl complain about PB but not enough ppl are trying to make a change dats y it won't change here.ppl need 2 do a lil less complaining and more working to make a difference

I lived in pine bluff most of my life.For some reason,I thought pine bluff was the best and fastest growinig city in america,that was until I went to Little Rock.Then I thought,"Little Rock alot better".Then I went to Dallas for the first time and thought."WOW!" "Dallas is sooo big!" Then the next summer I went to Los Angeles and fell in love with the place.I definitely don't play on staying in Pine Bluff in my future,but there are alot of nice people there that i've met,and i plan on revisiting
