This 3D animation dives through a microscope into a gold bar, to reveal the magical modern day alchemy of infusing gold into cosmetic cream. The most advanced cosmetic companies make use of nanotechnology to combine gold at the molecular level into complex creams used in anti-aging treatments. This computer animation is a simulation of exactly that. Elizabeth Grant Skin Care is an international leader in developing these types of compounds, and they worked with Mike Efford Motion Design to create this animated sequence.

From the animation's opening scene in a laboratory lit with ultraviolet lighting, the viewer is flown down through the eyepiece of a microscope into a gold ingot. Zooming down rapidly to the molecular level, gold nano-particles blend with Torricelumn, Elizabeth Grant's natural anti-aging ingredient, to create an advanced formula skin lotion.

Concept development by Marion and Paul Witz, 3D animation studio by Mike Efford Motion Design.

  • Great job, what programs did you use?

I'm very impressed by the modeling of you microscope.

How long did it take to create this animation?

  • @3DMotionArtist

Hi, glad you like...I used Lightwave 3D version 9.3 and After Effects for this. This animation took over 3 weeks, but I had a couple of other projects on the go at same time. I used ray tracing but also radiosity rendereing on this one.

    ciao,

    Mike

I haven't had the change to use Lightwave 3D, I use Maya myself.

I have heard it great at animation & rendering, not so good at modeling.

Great Work, I look forward to seeing more.
