Having read an 1969 article by kiyota about the Buddhism in postwar Japan, I googled him and found this video. Now I like him even more! His article is very sincere, and criticizes Japanese culture profoundly. I feel he is man with real independent thinking! I am a Chinese, and the Buddhism in China now is facing the similar problems. will definitely read him more!
Bogu is provided to UW Students, if they are enrolled in the class. Otherwise, one can rent it in the Kendo club for $5. You do have to purchase the shinai and tengui. I took this class with Sensei Minoru Kiyota, and it was amazing.

I remember Professor Kiyota very fondly. I took his class in 1998.

Not every college student can afford over $300 for the bogu. However, a $30 shinai is within most peoples ability.
