  • Having read an 1969 article by kiyota about the Buddhism in postwar Japan, I googled him and found this video. Now I like him even more! His article is very sincere, and criticizes Japanese culture profoundly. I feel he is man with real independent thinking! I am a Chinese, and the Buddhism in China now is facing the similar problems. will definitely read him more!

  • I remember Professor Kiyota very fondly. I took his class in 1998.

  • Bogu is provided to UW Students, if they are enrolled in the class. Otherwise, one can rent it in the Kendo club for $5. You do have to purchase the shinai and tengui. I took this class with Sensei Minoru Kiyota, and it was amazing.

  • Not every college student can afford over $300 for the bogu. However, a $30 shinai is within most peoples ability.

  • Bogu with no Hakama and Keikogi? interesting..
