  • @ Helladamnleet You need to get a job in hollywood since your such a good movie producer. At the time this was made, I was by myself with greasy hands and no one to hold the camera. I searched for a video to help me none were found. So I made this to help others. I hope that you do a better video. It will be good for all home mechanics if every one does this when they do a repair. Take care and Do a Better Job than Me.

  • Symptoms can vary. most common is a long crank time when starting. Another is fluxuating idle also unexpected engine shut down but is not common.

  • I am glad that someone gets to have a little bit of information on what they need to do for this project. I hope that everything works out for you.

  • I could not find another way to change it out. Chevrolet conveniently placed this beside the distributor cap and Coil. The only way to access all of this is to remove the airbox, the Upper Intake (there are 2 halves to the intake, you do not have to remove the lower.) The Coil bracket and distributor cap. Make sure you have a small snap ring pliers. Mine were to large so it took some fitness. I made this because when I had to do this there was nothing on the internet to help me.

  • do you have to remove the intake and all of that to do this? let me know i got to do it!

  • @starwarstim Without removing the upper intake half, you can not access the fuel pressure regulator. It is stuck almost inside the two halves.

  • @fr34kaccident check out what i did bud,

  • i had just changed my fuel pressure regulator, what a difference, no more hesitating, last truck i had, my 96 with a 454, they plugged in there machine to evaluate the problem, i changed oxygen censors, fuel injectors, and still the same, now that i have changed this one, it makes a world of difference, part was 130, and it cost 360 to install, no more fuel smell when starting either, i recommend this fix bigtime, before changing out the other things,

  • i have had this problem with a 96 454, when it was cold it would start easy, when warm and shut engine off, if i started it within a few minutes, it would fire up right away, but wait 10 mins, it would crank over about 6 or more times before firing, now i have the same problem with my 97 454, i just picked up a fuel pressure regulator, and i am installing it soon as possible, oh ya, i sold my 96, and the guy put one in and he said all starting problems disappeared,

  • @nextfreeman My 1999 Chevy Suburban stopped dead in its tracks last month. Engine still cranks over, has spark so i think the problem could be in the fuel system. Please help me and thanks you are doing very good job

  • @nextfreeman hey man we recently had problems with our 1999 suburban. its a 1500 350 model. and we notice and feel a violent "jerkyness" and small rpm jumps when idling or accelerating slowly. and sometimes it feels as though it may shut down on us. we just replaced the fuel pump thinking that was it. and at first all was fine, but then it started again. so we just wasted 250$. my question is. could it be the regulator. or a sensor. get back when ya can. thanks man.

  • You can change the regulator without taking the manifold off. But it is not too hard to just remove the plenum an change that gasket, not too mention the vacuum line is easier to get to and inspect with it off. Btw good job on the video, I know how hard it is to do something by yourself.. It's awesome that you thought about other people!!

  • Sweet. A low quality dark video with the project already started. Thanks for nothing. When I do my FPR I'm taking pictures and making a WRITTEN step by step guide.

  • good job ..thanks..
