a cursory examination of the psychological effects of hearing different music played with the same bit of film (assembled during my freshman year of college)
Why is it that everyone thinks this is the most BRILLIANT song to put to any footage. There are other great songs out there, you know? Requiem for a Dream was decent, but if you'd like to stick to Clint Mansell there are other great works, such as Glory? Sick of hearing this every where I go.
brilliant. I think we need more depressing and thought-provoking art that reflects the growing technological malaise. Art (particularly music) has the ability to rouse people's deepest passions, but this can either be in the service of the system's continued destructive patterns, or against it. If people only find mindless entertainment in art, it will be just as much to blame for our destruction as the other blunders of technology.

This scene in Koyaanisqatsi made me feel like people were hot dogs.
Watching your version with the different music (before it changes to Zoo York), it makes me feel like we are slaves.
When it changes to Zoo York it makes me feel like a hot dog again.

Ah, I saw this for the first time stoned outta my mind in my Freshman year of film school. And this....this is....perfect.

When the less positive song started playing I immediately thought like: It isn't all that fun.
That made me realize how music and sound can affect your mood and look at the world...
Now I'm going to give my fingers a rest.

When I heard that second song from Requiem for Dream kick in, I could only think of a quote from a Kids in the Hall sketch: "we are all sausages!"
