Gorgeous horse, i think pessoa work would have done him a world of good though. It would encourage him to use his back and push him forwards alowing him to bend and take the bit.And as to why he is hollowing his back and evading the bit...The tongue is a very sensitive muscle and you holding the reins so tight would have been painful. Also i think a bit more ground work was needeed as you seem very tense... you have a very good seat mind you, just go a bit easier on the reins.

if you make your corners more square and use inside leg to push in and outside leg as you leave it will complete the corner. also more on the bit. nice post
