This is one of the seven meals found in the 200 serving size Emergency Food Supply bucket from Costco. These are all vegetarian meals, all are labeled as soups, and the shelf life is great, 20 years if stored in 60 degrees, 10 years of stored at 70 degrees. This is dehydrated food, not freeze dried, which is why preparation takes 20-25 minutes.

We actually really enjoyed the Cacciatore, and we were even very happy with how the leftovers tasted the next day. This one is a winner.

Please pay attention to the actual serving size and calorie content when considering product for your emergency food supply. This bucket said it contained 100 servings. This was true, however, a serving was very small and often had only 180 to 200 calories. Not much at all. I figured that rather than 100 meals, this was more light 60 meals. That means only 20 days of food for one person. Not nearly what I initially assumed.

  • There's two types of cholesterol, one that fixes your arteries and one that hurts them. So no cholesterol means none of the stuff that hurts them, but also none of the kind that fixes them. I'd suggest storing some coconut oil along with this stuff which contains the good kind.

  • @chocoboasylum Thank you for that input and the tip!

  • Thanks for the fine review.

  • @jnkhd Your welcome, thanks for watching!

  • a good thing to do is also keep a ton of rice (stores forever) and add it to the soups to add calories/bulk.

  • @SeeknKnowledge That was my calculation as well. I figured one pouch of food = about two meals (2.5 servings per meal). This doesn't even provide that many calories but it is plenty filling. There are 30 pouches of foods so that's 30 days for two people. It really is affordable. Might be a smart investment for daily eating on a budget considering it's relatively healthy nutritional facts.

  • @SeeknKnowledge - I stand corrected. They changed the bucket from square to round and I saw it listed for $74.99 which for two people realistically is probably a one month supply which would put it at around $900 for a year's supply making it the most economically priced product I have seen so far.

  • Thanks for doing the video. I went to the costco.com site and do not see the exact same product. They have others but to tell you the truth, this product looked better than what they have available. I'll keep searching but thanks for taking the time to share this.

  • These survival foods are great for the duration of 10-20 years, but if you plan on surviving long beyond that and there is no food to buy in stores, you've got to have organic seeds to grow your own food.

  • @MultiModality Yeah I hear you, it's not very realistic for me either, or anyone in a tropical climate. Just gotta do the best you can, maybe start rotating it into your daily meals after 8 years or something like that. Thanks for watching!
