Album Review: Jonas Reinhardt (self titled)

Jonas Reinhardts debut album was released in 2008 on Kranky records. Kranky records is the home to numerous unusual, spacial sounding, electronic, freaky, shoe gaze, weirdness.

Jonas Reinhardt isn't all that weird, but he is very electronic, using tons of synth effects and drum machines to create cold, unusual, 70's zombie movie sounding tracks.

Some of the songs drag on for too long, but Reinhardt has nice sense of texture and build up, so the majority of this album is engaing, although somewhat uneven. Fans of electronic, prog music should enjoy this.

very lazy "review"

it's not minimalism? oh, but yea you're dead on with the Depeche Mode connection. wrong in both aspects. to me it sounds like old Tangerine Dream mixed with some Cluster.
