During the British occupation of Greece, Lord Elgin ordered his men to saw the Parthenons marble in half to decorate his home back in England. Now Greece wants to unite the halves in its modern museum.

Between the Acropolis and a museum whose architecture is dedicated to it, stands two apartments facing the threat of demolition. One is a rare example of 1930s deco, the other, late 1800s neo-classical.

  • The Greek civilisation has given the world so much, and the pages of her modern history are filled with suffering at the hands of her so called allies. For all they have given us - give them back their artifacts, thats all they have now. The british have their own achievements to be proud of. Let the Greeks have The Marbles and our eternal gratitude for giving the world the ideal of freedom and the arts. What more do we want!!

  • @loxandra2312

  • @SirGeorge8600 @kostas67reth it is a pity to see two guys to use such a language to defend our noble heritage.

that is correct we dont own this heritage nobody does it belongs to everybody who is interested to study it, the stolen marbles belong to us to be exposed in the athens museum that is justice

  • @kostas67reth shut up already you idiot. Mr. Internet Tough Guy.

  • @kostas67reth Ate pleine to stouma sou mei sapouni re vromogeirou. Did you even bother reading my comments? All you do is make sex jokes with my mom...

  • @kostas67reth (part3) what the info on this video says is wrong, the truth: "Lord Elgin's goal was to inject Britain with what was left of the culture of the ancient Greeks and raise the standards of his society." (Rise & Fall of the British Empire, James Lawrence, page 242) Elgin respected ancient Greece epically, he only used a mere fraction of the stones to display in his home/palace for his interest in history. British respected Greeks unlike they did to the poor Indians.

  • @kostas67reth (part2) Thus, I find it efficient for people all around the world to learn about Greek history when thousands of Europeans and Americans go into a museum and see these stones and statues as opposed to them being hidden in Greek museums. I too was honored to see these marbles when they came to the Art Institute of Chicago. These are intellectual human history, not the ownership of greedy nationalists.
