I demonstrate a quick and cheap method for background removal, choosing the starting values using channel mixer and a black and white adjustment layer, and some tips for cloning/healing. Here's the work file: http://www.mediafire.com/?yhbsbs2bb27fss5
- Towards the beginning I mention that I like to adjust the starting values before cloning/healing because it brings out detail, then I mention that I like to dodge and burn before luminosity masking because luminosity masking brings out detail, which is contradictory. I should have explained that I like to see what kind of detail harsh detail will need to be cloned/healed after I choose my starting values. Dodge and burn and luminosity masked curves adjustment layers are more fine-tuning steps.
- While I demonstrate CS5's "refine edge," I say you can hold down alt and paint over "areas you don't wish to refine" instead of "areas you don't wish smart radius to affect"
- When talking about the "fade" command, I mention it must be done immediately after doing the thing you wish to fade, before zooming or moving layers around. You can zoom all you want and the fade command still works. I meant to say you can't undo/redo rather than zoom.
- When I demonstrate how to heal along an edge, I refer to it as "cloning"
- I forget to go back and clone that chest hair coming out of his shirt that I couldn't heal effectively.
- Camtasia gave me major problems towards the end which resulted in black screen transitions between high-speed and low-speed segments.
Goog tutorial but I hate your voice! Clear your throat man.
