TEWKESBURY CAR JUMPING 1970's

Filmed on 8mm Cine on Breakingstone Meadow, Tewkesbury, about 1976/78. The Show promoter was Joe Weston-Webb, aka "Grumpy Joe". My cars were the yellow Anglia & the Vauxhall.

I wish I was born in the 80's or 90's!!! I'm afraid it was early 40's. I do have about 5 seconds footage of one of Joe's drivers attempting to go through a furniture van, but it didn't exit & was stuck inside. I may have cine footage of Dick Sheppard's version but will need to transfer it to video. Mary Connors was the Star of 'The Motobirds Stunt Team'. to those like me , who are in their late 40's yes they were but they were great times too. kids t.v programmes back then were absolutely brilliant . the music was good too ! i'm guessing you were born in the 80's or 90's by the comment you put . lol

hello , thankyou for your kind reply . was mary connors stunt team called the motobirds ? and do you have any film footage of the car and caravan stunts , or the removal van stunts ? it would be great to see and bring back memories. i was around 13 or 14 when i went to see one of his shows about 1976-77 . i've also seen gloucester's dick sheppard's stunt shows too . excellent shows and thoroughly nice bloke .

@midsaint776 The Guy you refer to is Joe Weston-Webb. He promoted the shows at Tewkesbury where we mad volunteers supplied our own cars, rolled & jumped them for the entertainment of the public in the hope of winning prize money! I did this at three 2day shows in the 70's. His partner, Mary Connors was fired from a cannon & flung from a catapult across the River Avon. She also did motorcycle stunts. They are still together running a flooring company in Ratcliffe on Soar. (Grumpy Joe's Flooring)

i remember they used to have stunt shows like this in the 1970's . there was one guy used to try and jump the river soar with a car and caravan . they don't have it now , and have not done in years. it used to be held every year in a meadow by the river soar in kegworth , on the leics / derby's border. he did other crazy stuff like driving a car through the side of a giant furniture lorry , or driving in through the back and coming through the luton over the cab .
