My second attempt at video prose. This time I memorised each section completely before filming it in the hope it would make the piece feel more natural.

Written, performed and filmed by TheRavenOfPoe.

The music is royalty free from incompetech.com
The piece is Laendler in C Minor (Hess 68).

  • You're fascinating. One of my sisses is so much like you in demeanour it is a bit frightful.

O dear, that is not what I wished to say. I meant it differently. I enjoy your poems miss, I do hope that says it better.

Simply put; Thank you for this post.

I grew up on Narnia and Tolkein and am a writer of faerie fiction. I don't know why I'm so chatty today. Forgive me please. I am covering my mouth now.

  • It has been an honour meeting you ;)

  • Keep it up Raven I'm a fan. Have you read Gormenghast by Mervyn Peake?

  • Thanks! I haven't read that yet but I would like to in the future =)

  • Oh Jen, you're so amazing! Every video you create is awe-inspiring! I wish SO much that you lived down the street from me, so you could pop in for tea every now and again! I'm sure we'd have wonderful conversations. You seem like the sort of person who could relate to almost anyone! You'll find love one day, I'm sure of it. If anybody can, YOU can!

  • Beautifully produced and performed Jennifer.

Now, 18 months later, I wonder upon what you have found or achieved, and whether you have discovered any lessons learnt from the past applying to your now.

  • What of the people who don't have the captivating voice? the charm, the talent, the youth -where do they belong?

  • so amazing. you're voice is also very captivating.

  • Thank you so much for turning those last few moments, here in my April night, into a gift. I LOVE the living of my life anyway, 24/7, but it's always especially nice when something happens to amplify its usual miraculousness. I'm so glad I chose to watch one of your videos. How nice it was this one, as it tells me so much about you. Not only in the content, but in your voice, your mannerisms, your expressions, and in the way you hold each item. I loved every bit of it.

  • This was wonderful, Jen! I am only now getting caught up on some vids I've missed. This worked really well how it was filmed. I've struggled myself how to make reading the poem or prose on camera and not reading it. You've given me food for thought in more ways than one!

  • All that talent and creativity was bottled up inside of you all these 20 years. Now it has finally broken out and it's pouring forth in a flood of creativity. I predict a wonderful artistic future for you indeed!

  • "Now I am twenty, and what I want most in life is to be in love. But I still want to be an Archeologist as well." I really enjoyed that finishing statement. I am no expert of course, but perhaps they are both expressions of being in love and searching for love. One is directed to one individual-the man you love. The other is directed to a wider group or thing you love-Love for some ancient people, lifestyle, geography, or culture. The object of love my vary, but the feeling of love is the same.

  • This Video is a great work of Art. I understand your desire to be an Archeologist. To study the history of other peoples and their lives-to better understand your own. Perhaps examining someone else's life will be simpler and clearer. Many others share that same journey too. Every movie we watch, every love song we listen to, every book we read, every Video we watch-like this one of yours-is another Archeology Dig for clues and meaning in our own lives. Greetings fellow Pilgrims-I salute you!
