  • If more kids listened to this speech instead of the jungle rap you see and hear on TV and the radio, perhaps they wouldn't be as screwed up as they are today! All I know is our grandparents will lived longer than today's children for sure. Their secret was simple (in no particular order): work hard, love your family, go to church, eat healthy (treats were something rare and special), love of country and to avoid excesses.I will get blasted for this but it happens to be true for the most part!

  • im almost 16 and a devout cross country and 800 meter runner. im also very involved in my church. above all, i am angered by my piers and the choices they make these days. i find this speech very very powerful and completely agree with it.

  • @NJFastEddie if you commit yourself to the love of christ, then that is how you run the straight race

  • @NJFastEddie Yes, in our generation kids are leaving the church and making bad decisions and what have you. It is true that there are more destractions and life is not as simple as before. But we are SCREWED up just like your generation was. And Jesus is the only one that can save us. Not hard work and eating healthy or going to church...

  • @NJFastEddie I agree that this scene is amzing and powerful. The story is inspirational. Resonding to your comment above, yes kids do listen to rap. But every generation has its problems. When you look back at older generations, its normal to thinkl that the times were better than now. We all forget the bad and remember the good. And older people tend to do that real well. But really, that generation had its good and bad just like ours.

  • @NJFastEddie Ian Charleson actually wrote that speech himself for the film, as he felt the original speech as written was overly pompous and pious etc...the producer-director agreed (thankfully), so what we have here is a heartfelt, genuine, brilliantly written piece that will live long in the ages...a masterpiece sermon if ever there was one! :) great film!

  • @NJFastEddie It's social engineering. Look at the feminist movement and who funded it. The separation of the family by having both parents work so the government can collect double the taxes, and put the children in pre-pre school "education" facilities. So the state becomes the parent. A whole other disastrous issue is immigration. Multiculturalism has never worked in the history of mankind, which is why we have open boarders in Europe and America. I could go one by I think everyone can follow

  • @xchotch I'd encourage you to share this clip with your friends from school.

  • If I run for myself, I've wasted my time, if I run for GOD, I run for life

  • @xchotch

Dude right on and good for you! Unfortunatley I just fell into drinking again for 3 days and nearly lost my home and stuff.

Fight the good fight and I will too.

  • @xchotch You're angered by your piers? What have the jetties and slips done to upset you so?
