I wish the women's hair wasn't so 80's-as-20's, although it's endearing in its own way. :) I wonder what a Thorn Birds remake would look like if directed by Tom Ford (I adore the way he did the costume design for "A Single Man.") I really do love when Meggie comes down the stairs and Ralph spots her. <3

at 1:57, that young man is from the movie Animal House.
-
I think that flirty guess wouldn't have mind taking the priest to bed either. He was talking to her when he spotted the grown up Meggie walking down the stairs.

WHY DO I CHOOSE TO BE A PRIEST! MEGGIE IS DAMN GORGEOUS! WHY WHY WHY!! OH THE TORTURE! MY HEART AND OTHER PARTS OF MY BODY ACHE TO HAVE HER! DAMN!
-
@VAANYA9 Isn´t he the most beautiful and charming man ever?
-
Beautiful moment when they see eachother. Wow.
-
"she look like death in white" that was soo hilarious those women are soo cruel but i love it as long as its directed to marry after how mean she has been to meggie she deserve those mean and cruel remarks.
-
Fee was a sorry excuse for a mother

Rachel Ward is so breathtaking and Richard Chamberlain is one of the most delicious priest/ man I've ever seen. The love between Father Ralph and Meggie is portrayed through merely expressions in this first scene of her as a young woman. How appropriate and brilliant of the director.
-
Not a bad movie if your ok with blasphemy.
-
I know Rachel Ward is a truly gorgeous actress when she played adult Meggie, but her features hardly comes close to the child Meggie. Wonder if the producers had considered choosing an actress whose features might've closely resembled the child Meggie at the time.

@tp4ever1950s Yes he realizes that he loves Maggy but...won't have her.
-
@sballgatorgirl06 that's Henri Mancini Its a beautiful piece, it so well expresses the feelings being let out of their eyes, and in their smiles. from here on in the series the love is still caring, and special.. but no longer just that its grows into more deeper, beautiful love like the music
-
What a powerful sotory; it makes you evaluate your priorities.
-
I love the music when she is coming down the stairs....it is so so perfect
-
I love Barbara's character. She plays it so well.
-
MOMENT OF TRUTH-how hard will you press your hearth to the torn Ralph?
-
@petranellachia young meggie was an amazing actress. Who cares if she looks just like the older versions.
But if it makes you feel better, the Aussie sunlight could have easily lightened her hair a bit over the years. My son is biracial and his jet black hair is now turning auburn brown.
-
In the past, Ralph loved Meggie as girl, like a daughter...but here, he realizes, that he loves her as woman...loves her beauty and her character.
-
Miggie is the most resplended on that evening wearing that beautiful dress *ashes of roses* and father Ralph cant keep his eyes away looking on his precious and beloved Miggie.
@petranellachia , In the book Maggie is described having red hair, but I think Sydney is so adorable playing the role one can easily overlook the details.

A Beautiful scene, my favorite, when Father Ralph realizes his different love for Meggie, from this moment on 1:20-2:40 He knows he's in love with her, and her to him... such a Beautiful piece by Henri Mancini - 'Meggie's theme'
Well done to the Directors, Actors, Composers, and all!! ♥
