OK, I don't know why, but I was scared to death of this clip as a child. Something about end of The William Tell Overture (classical music scared me when I was small), the eerie Oscar Wildean facial features of that egg guy, his prissy, odd, retro clothing and then finally the terrible goopy murky sound the caterpillar is making when it suddenly skids to a stop and turns into that blob.

Was anyone else out there scared of this one? Even at 38 I'm finding it a little hard to watch!

A big thank you and hurrah to Nanto for helping me out with this one. Yay, it's working!

  • If anything this clip teaches the power of forgiveness!!

that was a very nice thing that the butterfly did at the end!

  • The William Tell Overture was used as the theme to "The Lone Ranger", prompting many people to ask, "Where does the Lone Ranger take his trash?" To-the-dump, to-the-dump, to-the dump-dump-dump...

  • "Glad Gladys" from "The Electric Company" is the cartoon that terrifies me. In fact, I just posted it on Facebook with that comment. TEC was an educational horror show for kids.

  • I assure you that caterpillars do not run in real life.

  • Caterpillars do not run fast or quickly.

  • Now wait a minute, caterpillars do not run in real life.

  • This is way taking copious amounts of LSD isn't good.

  • I found this to be seriously creepy, too. I won't even watch it on here.

  • God it doesn't get any creepier than this! Still fun to watch though.

  • I must admit I like Jack Bowser better!

  • Yes, this one of MANY made me run behind the TV and hide....CREEPY, its that kind of animation!

  • @thezaylady Wow... I thought I was the only one who thought that guy was CREEPY. I think early 60s and 70s animation was kinda creepy... like the characters had no emotion. Especially psychadelic cartoons from Great Britain, like Yellow Submarine.
